Fire at Alvarado Creek 5/20/21

SDSU Alerts and the Urgent page were activated on May 20 after a small brush fire broke out near campus in Alvarado Creek. No evacuations were needed, and the fire was quickly contained.

May 20 at 3:33 p.m.: San Diego Fire and law enforcement have cleared the scene. Emergency officials have reopened Alvarado Road in both directions.

May 20 at 2:32 p.m.: Alvarado Road is closed in both directions. Avoid the area. There are no threats to campus and no structures have been impacted. SDSU parking lots will remain open. Access updates here, at urgent.sdsu.edu.

May 20 at 2:15 p.m.: San Diego Fire has quickly contained the brush fire located on the north side of Alvarado Creek away from Villa Alvarado. University Police are at the scene. There are no known threats to campus. Continue to access updates here, at urgent.sdsu.edu.

May 20 at 1:58 p.m.: Brush fire near College and I-8. The Fire Department is at the scene and handling. Please avoid the area until further notice.
