9:30 a.m.: There is not an active emergency at San Diego State University. Today, Oct. 20, SDSU is testing its emergency communications system in conjunction with the Great California ShakeOut. Students, faculty and staff are asked to drop, cover and hold on for 2 minutes. No other action is required. More information about this annual, international campaign is available online: https://www.shakeout.org/california/. Major earthquakes may happen anywhere you live, work or travel. The ShakeOut is our chance to practice how to protect ourselves, and for everyone to become prepared. To respond quickly, you must practice often.
