July 23 Unplanned Power Outage at SDSU Imperial Valley, Calexico
Reported on Tuesday, July 23 just before noon, an unplanned power outage is impacting parts of SDSU Imperial Valley, Calexico. SDSU Imperial Valley, Brawley is not impacted. Faculty and staff are encouraged to work from home, and faculty are encouraged to shift in person classes to Zoom.
July 23 at 4:38 p.m.: Power has been fully restored to SDSU Imperial Valley, Calexico following an unplanned power outage earlier today (the Brawley campus is not impacted). The Imperial Irrigation District confirmed that the outage was caused by an electrical problem with a transformer. The transformer has since been repaired, and there are no other known impacts or damage to campus. Faculty and staff have the flexibility to continue working from home and offering classes via Zoom for the remainder of today only, July 23.
July 23 at 1 p.m.: SDSU Imperial Valley online library services remain availalbe. As a reminder: Calexico campus faculty and staff are encouraged to work remotely from home, and faculty are encouraged to shift from in person to Zoom class sessions until the issue is resolved.
July 23 at 12:42 p.m.: Just before noon today, July 23, SDSU Imperial Valley was notified of an unplanned power outage at the Calexico campus (the Brawley campus is not impacted). The university is in contact with the Imperial Irrigation District, which is on site, to assess the cause of the outage and estimated time for resolution. At this time, parts of campus are without air conditioning and some lighting. Both SDSU Imperial Valley locations remain open. Calexico campus faculty and staff are encouraged to work remotely from home, and faculty are encouraged to shift from in person to Zoom class sessions until the issue is resolved.

During emergencies, dial 9-1-1 or use any emergency blue light duress phone located throughout campus. If you are unable to call, text to 9-1-1 is available within San Diego County. Individuals should text if they are:
- Deaf or hard of hearing, non-verbal or have difficulty speaking;
- Experiencing a situation where it is unsafe to call 9-1-1 for help;
- Or in a medical emergency and cannot speak on the phone.
